I started to be "pulled" to New Baltimore about three years
ago as I drove through town to go to a hunt club I belonged to. Even
a tad before that I had gone to Hillside church in Port Huron and had
seen the growth from I-94 in this area. So it was a while ago that God
started to work on me. He knew it would take time to move me!
A whole bunch of stuff started to happen with my life, job, and ministry.
I sold the collision shop that I started in 92' from a dream and
as an alcoholic/workaholic (see my story
- link here). The shop was going
great guns - why should I get out? Jan and I had bought our dream
house to grow old together in - on the water and even with a pool
inside the
house-we had it all-why move? I was an assistant pastor at a great
church in Southgate Michigan - Had a fantastic Boss/Senior Pastor
(still my
close bud) the church was growing, and things were just great. (We
still miss those people, but our heart is for the great people of
the Anchor
Bay area) ...
Why leave?
God had a plan and He put
it together. The shop sold, the house sold (when nothing was selling)
and the Church that we left has been our
greatest supporters and encouragers. The house we looked at in New
Baltimore in August was still there in December when we sold our
house and started
the process ...
Coincidence? I don't think so.
The New Baltimore area
probably doesn't need another mainline church, but God is wanting
to start a new work in this area that will relate
to the community right where they are. We want to get rid of the
phrase "The
roof will cave-in if I go to church".
We want to have a church that
will fit the "Church Collapsing crowd"!
Church
can be relevant, fun and friendly the way it was supposed to be
- Not judgmental, stuffy, and distant - We are striving to create
a perfect church for people who aren't - like me!
